Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. "The intimate and completely frank record of one woman's courageous experiment with psychiatry's newest drug LSD-25." This bestseller from 1962 was heralded as the first case study by a patient treated by a psychiatrist with LSD. The author, using a pseudonym, is actually Thelma Moss, an actress and scriptwriter who later became involved in parapsychology and Kirlian photography. She also suffered from suicidal psychological issues which led her to be treated with LSD. This is a very good copy indeed of the first printing. There's a small label on front endpaper, a hint of browning to edges, and just a little softening to the extremities. Dust jacket is very good, edgeworn and slightly browned. JS.

DJ has several chips and nicks, one 3cm tear in lower front corner, one puncture 4mm diameter near front of spine which has not damaged book itself. There is also foxing on the inside of the DJ. Book has some dust staining on the top. There are references and a bibliography. 303pp. The author was a patient who describes herself as a 'case history'. She had a traumatic time when her husband died suddenly shortly after their daughter was born. There after she had another relationship but this failed and she found herself functioning but putting many difficult thoughts deep into her subconscious. She had already had psychoanalysis and felt somewhat at peace with herself but when the opportunity came to volunteer for an experiment in LSD therapy she took it. She describes the 'journeys' she took , some in great detail, and then concludes how she felt afterwards. So, basically this is a 'description of an adventure in the unconscious human mind, as revealed through a chemical agency.'.
